In the fall, MMS 7th-8th grade English students entered the VFW Patriot's Pen Essay Contest. Students were asked to write a 300-400 word essay about "How Are You Inspired by America?" Entries were sent to the local VFW Post 4067 to be judged at the local level. Students who placed at the local level were then submitted to the regional level to be judged. Presenting awards were Derek Oshio, VFW Post Commander, Donald Klinko, VFW Trustee, and committee head for the Patriot's Pen, Sharon Kindle, Patriotic Instructor/Coordinator for the VFW Auxillary, and Kari Hould, Conductress and Chairwomen for Children and Youth. Placing at the local level were Jace Tollefson, 3rd place, and Ellis Carnahan, 1st place.

The High School Academic Olympics took place March 20th at Glasgow High School. Malta competed in the Class I section against teams from Sidney, Plentywood, Glasgow, Fairview, Chinook, and Wolf Point for a total of 70 students. Individual results on the written tests: David Schaldack-9th History, 10th English Brayden Rhoads-4th History, 4th Science, and 10th English Dawson Hammond-13th Math and 13th Science Oslo Stenberg-12th Science Bradley Brown-14th Social Studies Team 2 consisting of Oslo Stenberg, Brayden Rhoads, Dawson Hammond, Kyle Darrington, and E’mbow SaintLouis made it to the semi finals in the Oral Rounds.

Missoula Children's Theater Information: All students at the elementary school may ride a bus to the high school once school is dismissed if a ride is needed. Friday: At 1:45 pm a bus will take all students to the high school for their dress rehearsal at 2:00 pm. A letter will be sent home tomorrow with all this information as well. It's been a great week at MES!

Attention 8th grade parents. The 8th graders have there ski trip coming very soon on March 27th. School pictures are scheduled for that same day at the MS/HS. If you were planning to get spring pictures for your 8th grader, we ask that you take them to the Elementary school on Tuesday March 26th at 8AM. Students can return to the MS/HS after they have taken their picture. Thank you for understanding and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

More information will follow as that date draws near but there will be student presentations and a presentation for the public as well. Missoula Children’s Theater starts tonight at the Malta Elementary Gym. Initial auditions will take place tonight from 3:45 pm to 5:45 pm in the MES gym Please pick up your child from the south doors at the MES elementary gym. Parents can come around 5:30-5:45 to hear the casting call. Most students will be done at this time. If students are needed for the second half of rehearsals, they will be notified around 5:45 pm tonight. This will be about 20 of our students. Because of the short notice, food will be provided for these students staying late ONLY for tonight. Please plan on bringing food for the rest of the week. Each student in the play will receive paperwork tonight to clarify practice times based on their role. The students needed for the second half of rehearsals will be there until 8 pm. Practices for the rest of the week will be located at the MHS auditorium. Performances are Friday at 6 pm and Saturday at 11 am in the MHS auditorium.

On March 13, the Malta Board of Trustees voted to adopt a 4 Day Week for Malta Schools starting in the 2024-25 school year. When the 2024-25 school calendar is approved and as other details of this transition are finalized, we will share that information accordingly.
