Malta Public Schools Board of Trustees Honored with MTSBA Golden Gavel Award

At the recent Montana Conference of Education Leaders (MCEL) in Helena, board member Jessica Oyler proudly accepted the MTSBA Golden Gavel Award on behalf of the Malta Public Schools Board of Trustees.

Presented by the Montana School Boards Association (MTSBA), the Golden Gavel Award recognizes school boards whose members have all achieved MTSBA Board Member Certification within the same 12-month period. This distinction highlights the board’s commitment to professional growth, effective governance, and student-centered leadership.

To earn certification, each trustee participates in a series of training courses, workshops, and meetings offered by MTSBA throughout the year. These sessions cover a variety of important topics—ranging from legal and ethical responsibilities and strategic governance to policy development and human resource practices.

“This award highlights the dedication and teamwork of our entire board,” said Oyler. “We take our role in shaping the direction of our schools seriously, and continued learning helps us better serve our students, staff, and community.”

Superintendent Steven Bucks added, “We are extremely proud of our trustees for achieving this recognition. Their commitment to ongoing learning and collaboration ensures that Malta Public Schools continues to move forward with strong leadership and a clear focus on student success.”
