Malta Public Schools and Bear Paw Development Host Successful Grant Writing Workshop

Malta Public Schools, in partnership with Bear Paw Development Corporation, recently hosted a successful Grant Writing Workshop on October 17, 2025, at Malta Middle School/High School. Seventeen participants from Malta and surrounding communities attended the hands-on training to learn practical strategies for securing funding for local projects.

The workshop introduced participants to the 5 R’s of Grant Writing—Readiness, Research, Relationships, Writing, and Review—a practical framework for understanding what funders look for and how to deliver compelling, competitive proposals.

Attendees learned how to identify funding opportunities, align project goals with funder missions, and craft strong narratives supported by realistic budgets and timelines. Through small group discussion and real-world examples, participants practiced writing grants and presenting them to the larger group for review.

Instructor Julea Robbins with Bear Paw Development Corporation, emphasized that successful grant writing begins with alignment, “The key is finding funders whose mission matches your project’s goals,” she said. “When your readiness, relationships, and research all line up, your proposal practically writes itself.”

Participants also gained insight into maintaining strong relationships with funders, managing awards responsibly, and communicating progress throughout the grant cycle.

The event reflected Malta Public Schools’ and Bear Paw Development’s shared commitment to supporting local growth, innovation, and community partnerships.
