Malta High School is proud to celebrate an incredible showing at the State Music Festival! 🎶

This year, we had 16 entries perform, with an outstanding 11 of those performances receiving Superior ratings (1) and 5 receiving Excellent ratings (2). At the State Music Festival, students that received Superior ratings (1) from District Music Festival perform their prepared solos and ensembles for a panel of judges, receive written and verbal feedback, and are scored on tone, technique, interpretation, and overall performance. It’s a rewarding opportunity for students to showcase their skills and represent their school at the highest level of music competition in the state.

Student solos and groups representing Malta High School at State included:

Lola Snell (vocal solo—Superior, flute solo—Superior), Cansaydee Kapp (vocal solo—Excellent, trumpet solo—Superior), Oslo Stenberg (sax solo—Superior), Olycee SaintLouis (tuba solo—Excellent), Harlee Goertz (vocal solo—Superior), Addison Arnold-Anderson (vocal solo—Superior), Sabra Sims (vocal solo—Superior), Charlee Anderson (piano solo—Superior), and Shelby Snellman (piano solo—Superior).

Flute Choir (Superior): Renzey Raymond, Savannah Rhoads, Kendle Lankford, Caitlyn Lankford, Taya Wilke, Jayda Wyse, Kenzie LaBrie, Rylee Matthews, Lola Snell
Men’s Ensemble (Excellent): Treyden Heppner, Cylas Van Heel, Kyle Mayer, Gabe Oshio, Hayden Roberts
Malta Jazz Combo (Excellent): Oslo Stenberg, Olycee SaintLouis, Cansaydee Kapp, Silas Young, Bridger Benton

A group of approximately 16 middle or high school choir students pose together on tiered risers inside a music classroom. The students are dressed in semi-formal concert attire, including dresses, skirts, polos, and dress shirts in neutral and dark colors. Music theory and choir posters hang along the back wall, and instrument cases are stacked on the left side of the room. The students are smiling and standing in rows for a formal choir group photo.
A group of women and teenage girls stand together on a carpeted staircase inside an auditorium or performance venue. The group is dressed in semi-formal attire, including dresses, cardigans, and patterned tops, and they are smiling for a posed photo. Two older women stand in the front row while the students are arranged on the steps behind them. Warm lighting and tan walls create a cozy indoor setting.
A high school concert band performs in a gymnasium with students seated in semicircle formation around a conductor standing on a podium. The musicians are dressed in formal black concert attire and play a variety of instruments including flutes, clarinets, saxophones, trumpets, percussion, and tubas. Bleachers and large “PHS” lettering are visible in the background along with sports banners and senior athlete posters hanging above the court.
High School Student Council sponsored an outdoor movie night before the last few weeks of finals and graduation.

Yesterday the 6th Graders got to make a scale model of the solar system. Crazy to think about how far apart some of the planets are, isn't it?
