📚❤️ Spreading the love of reading! ❤️📚
Malta High School National Honor Society members headed to the elementary school to celebrate I Love to Read Month with Mrs. Ost and Mrs. Tuss’s kindergarten classes. NHS members read some of their favorite picture books from when they were little, then teamed up with the kindergarteners to make fun, creative bookmarks. Thank you, Mrs. Ost and Mrs. Tuss, for having us.

Malta Middle School is proud to partner with the Malta Kiwanis Club to recognize and celebrate outstanding students who demonstrate academic excellence, respect, service to others, and are a positive influence within our school and community.
February Student of the Month is Cooper Pankratz. Mrs. Gilkerson had this to say, "I would like to nominate Cooper Pankratz for Student of the Month. Cooper always shows kindness and respect to everyone and is quick to offer help when someone needs it. He always stays behind to help me put equipment away. Cooper has a positive attitude every day and is a great example of what it means to be a supportive classmate and teammate. During activities, Cooper demonstrates great sportsmanship and teamwork, encouraging others and celebrating their successes. Cooper works hard in all activities and puts forth his best effort on every challenge. Cooper always has a smile on his face and spreads positivity. He makes our classroom a better place to learn and grow. For his kindness, helpfulness, work ethic, and great attitude, Cooper is truly deserving of Student of the Month.” Congratulations, Cooper!

Mr. Eirik Barba-Ayala is the January recipient of the Core 3 Award for the MS, nominated by Gunner. The Core 3 Award allows students to recognize any staff member who empowers students to learn, leads with kindness and by example, and exhibits excellence. The Core 3 reflects our mission statement of "Empowering Learners, Inspiring Leaders" and our motto of "A Tradition of Excellence." Gunner nominated Eirik because "He always makes me smile and laugh." Congratulations, Eirik! We appreciate everything you do for our school. We are lucky to have you.

The MHS Anatomy and Physiology class and the MHS Weights class teamed up to perform a Muscle Function Analysis Lab during 3rd Period Weights. The A&P students looked at the electrical activity of the calf, quads, and biceps of our volunteer. The peaks and valleys of the graph show the muscle activity during a squat. The other members of the Weights class tested their grip strength for their dominant and non-dominant hands. Thank you to Straud and Mr. Norby! This is what happens when our students have both brains and brawn!
