A special Thank You to our maintenance and custodial staff who have spent the summer getting the high/middle school building and district grounds ready for a new school year. They've cleaned, waxed, painted, fixed, replaced, mowed, watered and countless other tasks all so the students will have great facilities to learn, practice, and compete in and on. Thank you for all your work!

One change HS students will notice this year is a new cell phone policy. Students will NOT be allowed to have cell phones, ear buds, air pods, smart watches, or other similar devices with them in class. These devices will need to be kept in their lockers or not brought to school at all. Students can use them before and after school, during lunch, and even between periods but will not be allowed to take them to class. We feel this will reduce distractions and anxiety, while improving focus and learning. We look forward to this change and appreciate student and parent cooperation.

While MHSA has moved to requiring sports physicals every other year, Malta Public Schools will continue to require yearly physicals for all student-athletes.
Here’s why:
MHSA’s change was based on feedback from larger schools and urban areas where clinics were overwhelmed and exams were being rushed.
Annual physicals help ensure student safety. A consistent yearly schedule gives families the best chance to catch potential health concerns early.
It also simplifies the process. Fewer exceptions and off-year tracking means less room for error. It also helps ensure no student falls through the cracks.
We believe this approach is in the best interest of our students and families.

The HS/MS Cafeteria was given a needed facelift this summer thanks to Shayley Simanton. She repainted and decorated the cafeteria. Check it out when you are at the school! Thanks Mrs. Simanton!

During the early morning rain storm on July 28, a large pipe that collects water from the gym roof and funnels it to the ground, broke free of its supports and allowed a significant amount of water to end the gym behind the upper bleachers. This water caused damage to the ceiling tiles in the locker rooms, locker room hallway, and to the gym floor. Restoration professionals have had their equipment running in the gym since that day trying to extract water from beneath the gym floor. The extent of the damage that has been done is still being determined. Repairs to the gym are ongoing and will likely interfere with PE classes and fall sports practices and events once school starts.
Reminder that all MS and HS students can pick up their schedules on Aug. 6-7 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
Impact Baseline testing for MS and HS students planning to participate in athletic activities is Aug. 6-7 at 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM.
